5. United Kingdom

Despite our usual grumbles about the weather, the UK’s a treasure trove of amazing places, from bustling cities to charming villages and scenic coastal towns. Just pause and imagine all the sights we pass while riding the tube every day.

Beyond London, Liverpool hosted the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest for Ukraine, last year’s winners, which definitely played a part in securing our fifth spot.

4. United States

The USA remains a hotspot for travelers, drawing millions for yet another year of unforgettable trips. Come end of 2023, a whopping 41.8 million holidaymakers will have chosen the States as their destination, ranking it as the world’s fourth most-visited country. Pretty impressive, right?

If you’ve been to the US, you’ll get that every State has its own vibe. And hey, since it’s the third biggest country globally, you’ve got it all—big cities, stunning mountains, national parks, deserts, and beaches, the whole shebang!

3. Turkey

This year witnessed a significant rise in tourists heading to Turkey.

Famed for bridging Asia and Europe, Turkey charms visitors with its rich cuisine, diverse culture, and impressive architecture. Along its Aegean Coast lies one of the planet’s most stunning shorelines. For history enthusiasts, there’s the ancient underground city of Derinkuyu, capable of accommodating 20,000 people!

In 2022, Turkey hosted 50.5 million visitors, and this year, it embraced 45.5 million travelers. Quite a destination with its blend of history and natural beauty, isn’t it?

2. Spain

This year, just like always, this popular European destination has been a huge hit, attracting a whopping 70 million visitors.

There’s so much to explore here—gorgeous beaches, vibrant cities like Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, and Granada. Have you seen the steps at Parc Güell in Barcelona? Those are the very steps strided by the Cheetah Girls in that 2006 film! It’s a big TikTok trend to recreate that scene. And the landscapes? Talk about variety—from mountains and volcanoes to wetlands and deserts, it’s a feast for the eyes!

1. France

At the top of the list was France, known for its delicate pastries, berets, and incredible art.

This year, a whopping 72.4 million people have already visited, and the star attraction? Well, that’s Paris. Think Eiffel Tower selfies, a chat with Mona Lisa at the Louvre, taking in the grandeur of Notre Dame, and strolling along the Champs-Élysées, preferably with a few shopping bags in tow.
